Everest Region

The Everest or Khumbu region, located in the Solukhumbu district of Province No. 1 in the eastern Himalayas, is Nepal’s most well-known and frequently visited trekking and mountaineering destination. Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world, is located in this region. It rises 8,848.86 meters (29,031.7 feet) above the average level of the sea. The entire region is part of the UNESCO-designated Sagarmatha National Park, which is home to a wide variety of natural resources, including rare animals like the Himalayan tahr, red panda, and snow leopard, as well as many other, more exquisite alpine plants like junipers and rhododendrons.

Buddhism of the Sherpa is the cultural factor of the Everest Region. The Sherpas are famous for their climbing skills and gentle hospitality, and have used this great alpine environment for generations. The Tengboche Monastery is one of the important spiritual places in the Himalayas. Other famous trekking routes—Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek, Gokyo Lakes Trek, and the three Passes trek, each offering mind-boggling views of soaring peaks Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Everest itself- will always be the talk of the town. Trekkers usually commence their journeys from Lukla after an enthralling scenic flight from Kathmandu over the beautiful mountain ranges. Even though super-challenging terrain, it pulls thousands of adventurers every year to cast a spell on its beauty, rich culture, and the dream of standing right in front of the world’s highest peak.
