Central Himalayas

The central Himalayan parts of Nepal is the vital lifeline and grips the heart of the Himalayan landscape in the country, including some of its most scintillating peaks, protected areas, and cultural landmarks. Under this territory lie the Annapurna, Langtang, and Manalsu ranges, sheltering giant peaks like Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) and Annapurna I (8,091m). The topography here is quite varied, with areas varying from low river valleys and dense forests to high alpine meadows and snow-capped mountain peaks. The Annapurna Conservation Area, Manaslu Conservation Area, and Langtang National Park conserve biodiversity, which includes animals such as the red panda, Himalayan thar, rhododendrons, and orchids.

Tourism is in full bloom within the Central Himalayas, thus representing a significant hub for trekking, mountaineering, and other cultural explorations. Trekking circuits, such as the Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp, Langtang Valley Trek, and Manaslu Circuit, are among the most traversed routes and witness thousands of trekkers every year for the unrivaled scenery they offer as well as access to remote mountain villages. These areas have cultural diversities as they dwell diverse ethnic communities, including Gurung, Tamang, Magar, and Tibetan-origin groups, each with different traditions, architectures, and festivals. The region’s relatively good infrastructure, including roads, teahouses, and trekking support services, makes it more accessible than other parts of the Himalayas.
